Answered Prayer

Crosstowne Church in Milton donated the use of their church to us and we had opportunity to share some of our testimony and music with friends and family.

Meet Cameron.  Cameron is my youngest child.  On September 22, 2012 Cameron closed his eyes and went to be with Jesus.  He was 18.

A few months after Cameron’s death I came across his toy box that my brother made him.  In the bottom of the toy box was his baby blanket.  My stepmother made it for him when he was born.  It was made and given to me in Ontario.

God has a plan for our lives.  He sets us in a path for our life but it’s up to us to be listening, paying attention and following the directions.  When God calls us to do something we don’t see the big picture.  We don’t always understand why he’s instructing us to do something.  The same is true with our earthly parents.  They make decisions for us to guide us in a certain direction.  We don’t always understand why but we should listen and trust.

In February 2013, 5 months after Cameron’s death.  I was struggling with these such decisions I had made as a parent.  I needed to know that Cameron had forgiven me for decisions I had made that maybe he didn’t understand.  I knew I wouldn’t be able to move forward until I let this go.  I was driving myself crazy obsessing over this.  I started begging God to please help me to let this go.  For three days leading up to a day in church I was relentless in prayer…please God, help me, I need to let this go.

We were attending a church in Minto, New Brunswick.  In the middle of the service a three year old girl came running up from Sunday school.  She was screaming “daddy, daddy, daddy”  Of course I turned around to discover her wearing this.

I couldn’t breath.  I felt a huge jolt in my chest.  I knew this moment was for me.

When we pray, the answer to our prayers will never be in the form we think it should be.  God knows exactly what we need and when we need it.

To put this into perspective for you.  The blanket was made in Ontario 18 years prior to this event.  The dress was newly handmade 18 years later in New Brunswick. During Cameron’s lifetime and since, I have never encountered anything else made out of this fabric.  I have peace.

1 John 5:15  And if we know that he hears us -whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him

F Is For Friendship

Meet friends Frank and Carolyn.  We spent some time visiting with them in Milton while camping in their driveway.

Meet our very good friend Betty.  God is keeping Betty very busy.  She reaches out to the unvisited in her senior’s complex.  We had a great visit.

Meet our good friends Wayne and Christine.  We spent some time with them in Port Dover, Ontario.  Tat and Wayne were a musical duo called BFAM….Brothers From Another Mother.

Meet their daughter Kirsten,  her husband Shane, their son Pearce and Wayne’s mom Lucille.

Meet another daughter Shannon, her partner Kelly and some of their gang…Noah, Elisha and Bobby.  Never a dull moment in this family.

Let’s not forget Heidi and Bella.

Meet Don and Lisa…there was plenty of jamming going on during our visit.  Tat and Wayne even recorded a few songs.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit here.  We are heading back to Milton for a couple weeks.

Proverbs 18:24   One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Every house needs a man cave!

How blessed we are to have spent time with this beautiful family.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7  Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy,   it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Taking Our Breath Away

We have been staying in Peachland, British Columbia.  This has been our view every morning over breakfast.

Meet Brad and Kaylanette.  We met this wonderful couple in San Antonio, Texas. They invited us to camp on their property while in British Columbia.  They have opened up their home and their hearts to us.  We had opportunity to share testimony and to play for them and their friends.  What a great evening.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here with them.

Brad and Kaylanette own Safari Ridge Paintball located in West Kelowna, British Columbia.  What a fun place to come.

There are alot of activities to do at Safari Ridge.  Choose from archery tag…

…laser tag…

…and paintball.

In Kelowna, all of the utility boxes and garbage cans are nicely decorated.

Fire hydrants here are yellow and green.

The scenery here is absolutely gorgeous.

You are looking at the mountain’s reflection in the water.

Found this very interesting display in the restroom of a Chinese restaurant.

John 15:12-15  My command is this: love eachother as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command.  I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business.  Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Monday Night Senior’s Special

20170205_140813Meet newlyweds Charles and Dale.  We met them at First Christian Church in Del Rio. Charles has a unique talent of making custom pens.  Tat was blessed with one of his masterpieces.

This morning we woke up to a leaky tent.  We purchased a new one.  We heard about a guy who works at the campground and travels to Mexico every weekend.

Meet Jesse.  His mother lives in Mexico and he visits her every weekend.  He told us about “wetbacks”.  These are Mexicans who got caught crossing into the USA and are returned to their country  and put into a “camp”.  We gave Jesse the tent, food and a couple backpacks to take over to them.  We also equipped him with some bibles.

We have been having some mechanical issues with the van and are waiting on a few parts.  If all goes well we will be heading West tomorrow.

We went out for supper with our adoptive family…all you can eat for $5.51.

We have spent the last week at the Lonesome Dove campground in Del Rio.  This place is clean, well maintained and quiet.  What makes it stand out from the rest is the sense of community here.  We have felt very welcome.  We recommend this campground.

Ephesians 4:2  Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Catch Of The Day

Last night Tat and I had opportunity to play music after a potluck supper at the campground.  We were well received by a very appreciative audience…they loved the gospel music.

Meet Ray.  Tat and Ray hooked up for a little jam session today.

And then there were three…

We went to the weigh in of a bass fishing tournament in Box Canyon.

Meet Lewis.  He won first place…on the left at 10.35lbs.

Meet very proud Nisha.  She won second place…7.48 lbs.

We are meeting the most incredible people here.  We are going to church with some fellow campers in the morning.

Best Darn Bar-B-Que In Texas

20170128_193956Meet Roseann.  We met this lovely lady on the shuttle on our way to San Antonio’s bar-b-que cook-off and festival.  This is an annual event here as a kick-off to the rodeo.

20170128_195900Meet Rick, Gilbert, Nick, Gabriel, Severo and Anthony.  They are all members of the Frio Saloon Smoker team.  They were one of over 240 teams that competed today. Their entry was brisket.

20170128_193837You have already met Roseann and Rick…meet Joann, Pat and Bella.  These wonderful people invited us into their booth and fed us a pulled pork supper.  We were treated just like family.

Enjoy live music and the many interesting vendors.  We saw some of the most interesting barbeques and smokers.
