We are in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Today we explored the historical section of the island. In the 1800s, the richest of the rich bought Jekyll Island and created a club as a private retreat for the well to do. The club became a hotel created to provide the best of the best. It is complete with luxurious swimming pool, shuffle board, golf course, marina and private airport. The average stay was three months out of the year. After a few years, an addition was built onto the original hotel. The hotel is open to the public and still provides the best of the best.
Tat and I walked through this hotel. Although it is spectacular, we both found it very difficult to witness such abundance when we know there are people going without. If we all gave away a little of our excess then perhaps the world could be a different place. We are living off of a very strict budget…it makes you think hard about what you spend your money on.

Eventually, the elite wanted their own private cottages…and so they were built. Some of these cottages have been restored and are not what I call a cottage. Some big names that retreated to Jeckyll Island are J. P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, Joseph Pulitzer and William Vanderbilt.
The trees here are absolutely stunning.
There is a hospital for sea turtles here. This is the entrance to the facility.
Mark 8:36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
Absolutely stunning pictures. I keep asking myself – and why do I live in a country with snow, ice, etc at this time of year. Keep em coming. Safe travels
